Lithium-Ion Battery Collection Case Study
How Did We Help?
We recently received an enquiry from a healthcare business based in Glasgow. As they provide a range of electronic equipment, the business needed help disposing of lithium-ion batteries safely and sustainably.
The Collection and Recycling Service
As the business had a large volume of battery waste, the batteries must be collected and transported by ADR-verified drivers. At Collect and Recycle, we were able to offer this service, specialising in disposing of hazardous waste materials.
To ensure safety in transporting the batteries, they were wrapped individually in film, secured using insulated tape, and stored in a plastic drum with vermiculite. Vermiculite is a material used in hazardous packaging to prevent fires. As it cannot burn, it is ideal to safely store lithium batteries.
The Cost and Environmental Benefits
Our battery recycling service not only provides a safe and compliant solution for hazardous waste disposal, but it also offers significant cost and environmental benefits.
By partnering with Collect and Recycle, the healthcare business in Glasgow was able to reduce its waste management expenses through our efficient and streamlined collection process.
Additionally, our recycling methods ensure that valuable materials within the lithium-ion batteries are recovered and reused, reducing the demand for new raw materials and minimising the environmental impact.
This commitment to sustainability helps businesses meet their environmental goals and follow hazardous waste regulations appropriately.
