Uber Eats Reusable Packaging
Uber Eats has rolled out a new reusable packaging trial across London managed by Again. This gives customers the option to opt-in for reusable containers when ordering food and beverages. The trials will test the effectiveness and convenience for consumers.
How Does The Uber Eats Trial Work?
Once opted-in, the consumer will receive their food delivery in reusable packaging. The container has a QR code on, which can then be scanned to schedule a collection for the packaging within the coming weeks. All the customer will need to do is rinse the container to ensure it can effectively be recycled.
The collection will be made by either car, bicycle, or electric van for the eco-packaging. Restaurants taking part in the 6 month trial are Ritto’s, The Pepper Tree, Donburi & Co, Iro Sushi, Capital Kebab Restaurant, Shawarma Hut and Viet Quan.
What Are The Benefits Of Reusable Packaging?
This trial is leading the way to reduce single-use packaging in the food and beverage industry. By testing this reuse initiative we can take a step closer to significantly reducing packaging waste and pushing recycling rates.
“Today, reusable packaging is too inconvenient for everyday customers. We’re excited to be partnering with the Bring it Back Fund to explore how we can make it really simple for customers to return packaging by trialing a new logistic service that will collect directly from customers’ doors.” – Matt Kennedy, founder and chief executive at Again
