How we work

Our flexible delivery drivers can pick up your cardboard as and when you need us.
We require your cardboard to be baled prior to collection. This is due to ease and storage purposes, as baled cardboard is easier to transport. In addition, it saves plastic waste by eliminating the need to store cardboard in plastic bags.
If your business does not own a baler, Collect and Recycle can provide you with one prior to our collection date.
Our cardboard collection can also include other types of waste in the same slot. These waste items are:

  • Paper
  • Pallets
  • Redundant magazines and newspapers
  • Plastic waste

After our delivery drivers collect your cardboard waste and return it to one of our recycling centres in the UK. The cardboard and other waste are hand sorted into their separate waste streams. From there, the waste streams are sent off to treatment centres to complete the process of recycling.
For the cardboard and paper waste stream, it is sent to a paper mill. At the paper mill, the waste is de-inked, to ensure that all the waste is uncontaminated. Then, the waste is boiled and pulled into a pulp consistency.
After this, it can be dried and wound into reels to be taken to another treatment centre. Then, these reels can be transformed into new paper and cardboard products. Your business may even receive these products!
